Astrology – the Medicine of Hope?

AlchemyPlanetSymbols… surely that is all it is? Apparently not. Although UK Conservative MP, David Tredinnick, stops short of suggesting the NHS should offer astrological readings,  he does suggest that astrology might be included in standard medical treatments. I can see a possible psychological benefit, like the hope you have when you start revealing the symbols on a scratch card. But here is an alarming thing, Chris Patten – former governor of Hong Kong, Chairman of the BBC Trust – had an ‘official astrologer’. What the heck does that mean? The fate of Hong Kong was determined in the charts, the BBC continues to produce sub-par programmes because it was pre-ordained in planetary arrangements? Crazy.

And I am reminded of a similar crazy, a South African I knew once, who believed that you could tell how developed a person was by their colour, their aura. He claimed he could see these things. A beautiful girl who walked into the bar one evening was a perfect gold/green, a kind of a tree in front of the sun, whereas I was red, about as underdeveloped as you could get. You could see he wanted a community of beautiful green people that he could shag. The rest of us reds would support that community by working in the fields and the pits and dying painful deaths for being so underdeveloped.

I’ll always remember him taking me to see his fairy ring in the garden. A circle of mushrooms which he danced around. I think the cannabis helped his belief, but it didn’t help mine – perhaps that is because I am red.

The important thing is, too many people in charge believe in nonsense, that is why the Neo-Liberals will strip the majority of their rights to a decent life. Read about these people and vote them out before it is too late.
